I have started to notice that all the areas of the forums have pages that eventually drop off except for the Open Discussion area. Why is this?

Tristian I come being good will and hopefully some homour for you. My name on here is Malsteem. I am the Chairperson of the DBAA. Most of the members (DA'S) need some serious help. THey post, the laugh and enjoy each-other. You never know when some one will send you an e-mail, check out your blog, etc. I often worry that one day they will just show up on my door step and say "Hi". I have even heard rumors of actual mail, though I have not recieved any.

Back to question.
Why are the Open Discussion Pages always up?

Because that is where the Hoopie Pappy the posting Pope hangs out with a band misfits and malcontents. They get tired of all the bickering on the darkside and enjoy each other on the light side.

we Try to bring them over the serious stuff, but it never last for long, so we keep them "contained" in the light side.
It really is for thier own protection.

If I can be of service to you any further, than plesse feel free to contact me via posting a New Topic, with a Snappy new name.-M

The reasons that they keep popping up and not dropping off is because there is more posting on the lighter side.

Okay, here's the deal: it seems that each area of the forums is set to show different amount of days. The Open Discussion is set to "show all posts" while other sections are set to only show the "last 60 days". I can adjust the Open Discussion to drop off after the same number of days, or I can leave it as is. At this point I'm going to leave the others at 60 days.

Let me know if you have a strong preference for how much of the Open Discussion to leave up.

Hope that's helpful and let me know if you have questions.

Thanks for your response. I suppose it does not really matter that much to me except it seems a bit messy. I would think after 90 days things should drop off. A few of us like going in there but its hard to compete with the regulars so 90 days would be great.

I am all for dropping some of the pages after 60-90 days. That is one confusing area.

Jen,

Here is what I would like to see. I would like to see pages in the Open Discussion area dropped after 60 days. I have only been in there a few times and like it quite well, but there are some who make the rest of us feel like outsiders. I don't think that it is fair for a few to make it "their" own area of this forum. I believe that this forum belongs to all of its members.

When I first started on this site I use to frequent the Open Discussion area quite often. I think it needs to be cleaned up a bit. My vote is for dropping some of the pages. It also seems that too many people argue on there from what I can read. I don't know what the solution for that is.

Admin-a-Jen,

"If she ain't broken don't fix it". The open for discussion is a fun area, that many people enjoy, and I have yet to see anybody (besides trouble makers) have a problem with it.

I don't understand what the problem is, the OFD is simply that a place open for discussion - a fun place - a place of fellowship - a place where some great freindships have been forged and new ones all the time. I don't see what's so confuesing about it - we don't have a problem unless certain people come in and instead of jumping in on the conversations, getting to know one antoher - start complainng or like one indivdual who just started thread after thread I think one day started perhaps 30 50 threads -
No one who has come into the OFD and acted civily has been snubbed or attacked.
Rant over - but let me end by saying to all who seem to have a problem, come on in, join the fun - relieve stress build friendships and have fun. That's what that thread is all about.
