Westchester Indian Christian Church
posted 8/20/2009 10:10:42 AMWestchester Indian Christian Church, a church committed to reaching the Kerala, Indian, and Asian people, launched this past weekend in Yonkers, NY. The new church, planted by Orchard Group Church Planting, is just 15 miles north of Manhattan and hopes to reach the half-million Indians in metro New York.
"India commemorates its 62nd year of independence from British rule on August 15," writes lead minister CT Abraham. "This day is similar to Independence Day in America. Therefore we decided to have the inaugural service on Saturday, August 15th."
The new church held a worship service Sunday morning, as well, and will continue meeting on Sundays with services in both Malayalam and English.
